Remote exercise resources

On this page you will find a range of resources that can help you to design home-based exercise programmes for older men with prostate cancer.

To deliver the STAMINA intervention at home may be a challenge:

  • Our patients are often novice exercisers who require instruction

  • Performing 45 minutes of low-impact moderate intensity exercise twice per week without equipment may be a challenge

  • Clients value variety

  • The availability of outdoor exercise (i.e. walking) is often weather dependent

  • Minimal equipment will be available for resistance exercise

  • Resistance exercise needs to provide a sufficient stimulus

STAMINA is a five year research project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the UK. The programme is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a long term supported exercise intervention in men with advanced prostate cancer who have undergone medical castration with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
