People

700 Men who have been prescribed Androgen Deprivation Therapy (also known as hormone therapy) for prostate cancer.

Intervention

The STAMINA lifestyle intervention comprises 12 months of supported exercise training that has been individually tailored and is delivered by purpose-trained clinical exercise specialist at a Nuffield Health gym.

Usual care offered by the NHS for men which has been optimised for men who are on ADT for prostate cancer.

Outcomes

  • Improvements in Fatigue 

  • Improvements in Quality of Life

STAMINA is a five year research project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the UK. The programme is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a long term supported exercise intervention in men with advanced prostate cancer who have undergone medical castration with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
